Loose leash walking...part 2

It's a dreary, fall afternoon - maybe not a perfect day to practice leash walking outside, but did you know practicing leash walking inside is my go to training exercise?

Leash walking indoors is like taking an introductory class before jumping into the advanced work. Building a foundation is essential for both you and your pup, don't worry about getting overwhelmed with this one, because it's a zero-pressure exercise. Do it as long as it feels good to both you and your dog.

This video will guide you through the concept of leash pressure - what it is and what it means to a dog who has training - and how to use sniffing as an appropriate reinforcer so both you, and your dog, get to enjoy walks!

Now, set a timer for 10 minutes, grab a bag of treats your dog likes, and get busy training!

"When it comes to training a dog, 5 minutes a day, Monday through Friday, is better than 30 minutes on Saturday," ~ Martin Deeley
